Intevation GmbH supports FOSSGIS 2010 as local sponsor

The largest german speaking conference about Free and Open Source GIS Software and geodata, FOSSGIS 2010, takes place in Intevations headquarter city Osnabrück from 02.-05.03.2010.

10 years ago two executive directors of Intevation GmbH, Dr. Jan-Oliver Wagner and Bernhard Reiter, were founding members of the GAV e.V. at that time. Meanwhile the association has changed name to FOSSGIS e.V. and acts as a national chapter of the international Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo). A keynote at thursday wraps up "10 years of FOSSGIS" - a review. This keynote introduces the topic from the beginning till now and bridges over to the first german speaking OpenStreetMap-conference.

Intevation supports the FOSSGIS actively since many year with continuing and ongoing engagement in sponsoring, giving workshops about different topics like PostGIS, UMN MapServer, deegree and OpenLayers.

Within the FOSSGIS 2010 Intevations geospatial staff provides talks and workshops and practical information and background for different topics, products etc. The workshops, whos revenues are exclusively used to cover the expenses of the conference, provide practical information from professionals.
